About Us

We provide support to and information for parents and parent councils:

The Calgary Association of Parents and School Councils is a not-for-profit association that provides relevant and ongoing information and support, and a forum for discussion on key topics of interest to parents and school council members of Calgary Board of Education Schools. Our assistance to parents and parent councils enables them to more fully contribute to and shape the education of children in CBE Schools.  By being informed and involved, our members are able to improve the functioning and efficacy of their school’s Parent Council.

Information provided and discussions undertaken at our monthly meetings and on this website update and involve all interested parents and parent councils.  We regularly host CBE Trustees, senior managers and department directors in order to ensure that the most up to date and relevant information is available to parents.  We strive to provide parents and school councils with a wealth of information and resources to help them be true partners in education.

We act as a voice for parents and parent councils, and offer a forum for your voice:

Acting as the voice of parents and parent councils, we represent parental concerns both on a range of CBE committees and in the Calgary media. As valued and active participants in education policy and planning, we have a permanent seat at CBE Board meetings.

Our Open Mike sessions with Trustees, which happen at almost every meeting, are great opportunities for parents to be individually heard. If you’re passionate about your child’s education and our CBE schools, get involved!
